Civil War Encampment, Rising Sun, Indiana

Saturday & Sunday, May 5 & 6, 2012

On April 12, 1861, 150 years ago the Confederate Army fired on Fort Sumter to start the Civil War.  As we recognize the sesquicentennial of the Civil War step back in time and meet those who interpret the men who fought this great American conflict.  This is a wonderful opportunity to learn first hand what life during the Civil War might have been like.  Camps of both armies will be set up with re-enactors to answer your questions and give you a glimpse into their world.  Cannon demonstrations, a battle each day, children’s activities, food, and more.
If you are interest in participating as a re-enactor or a suttler, please  email
ohiocohist@orvcomm.com or mail to Ohio County Historical Society, 212 S. Walnut Street, Rising Sun, In 47040.  No Pre-Registration is required.
And, as we did last year, we will be providing a $5 “bounty” per each re-enactor, and $200 “bounty” per cannon.

BROUGHT TO YOU IN COOPERATION WITH MAIN SOURCE BANK, THE RISING SUN OHIO COUNTY PARK BOARD, THE CITY OF RISING SUN, and THE OHIO COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
